1. Free POGIL workshops – Term 1

Rick Moog will be running POGIL three workshops in the latter half of term 1: Auckland (29 March), Wellington (31 March) and Christchurch (30 March).

These free workshops will give teachers an insight into a popular learning tool available for senior science and chemistry classes.

POGIL was first introduced at CHEMED07 and since then a raft of new resources has become available. If you're not sure what POGIL is all about visit: http://new.pogil.org/materials/high_school.php

2. Improving Teaching and Learning using ICT: a ‘DIY’ approach - April

Peter Hollamby from the University of Cardiff, Wales, was a very popular speaker at CHEMED09. He will be back in NZ from April next year to run a series of one day workshops to help teachers develop both confidence and competence in using a wide range of IT resources in their chemistry classes.

He brings a wealth of experience and recently developed resources from courses he has run in the UK.

Workshops are planned for Auckland, Hamilton, Tauranga, Palmerston North, Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin during the first 4 weeks of term 2.

The one day course, plus resources, will cost $125 per person and each workshop will be limited to 25 teachers.

Further information will be available in February.

For inquiries about these workshops please contact Suzanne at Suzanne.Boniface@vuw.ac.nz
