Orientation

There is a map of the Conference venue on page 6 of this book and a general map of Dunedin in your delegate satchel.

Registration and Information Desk

The registration desk will be located on the ground floor of the main foyer of the Owheo Building, Dunedin College of Education and will be open between 3.00pm and 7.00pm on Sunday 10 July and on the first floor of the Owheo Building from 8.00am on Monday 11 July. The desk will be staffed during morning and afternoon tea, lunch and social events during the Conference. Please ask a Conference staff member for assistance outside these times.

You may call this number if you have any difficulties while attending the Conference. Friends and family may also use this number if they need to contact you in an emergency.

Registration for workshops and field trips

Please register for workshops and field trips on the sheets provided at the Registration Desk. Numbers for some activities are limited so early registration is recommended.

First aid

A first-aid kit will be available at the Registration/Information desk. Please inform one of the Conference staff (wearing blue and gold vests) if you require medical assistance.

All laboratory session participants will be expected to wear supplied safety glasses AT ALL TIMES when in the Lab.

Notice Boards

A Conference notice board will be located on the first floor foyer of the Owheo Building for the duration of the Conference. This will be used to display notices about the Conference and any changes to the Conference programme. You may also use these boards for participants’ messages and notices. Please check the noticeboard daily.

Morning tea, afternoon tea and lunch

Lunches, morning and afternoon teas will be available from the Owheo building foyer unless otherwise specified. Lunch is not provided on Wednesday 13 July.

Smoking

Smoking is prohibited in all University, Polytechnic and College buildings.

Assistance

For general assistance, please ask a ChemEd 2005 Organising Committee member who can be identified by the blue fleece vest s/he will be wearing.

Toilets

Toilets are located in the foyer of each level of the Owheo Building, and on the ground floor of the Auditorium and Tower Buildings.

All are located on the first floor of the Owheo building

Email access

There is limited access to email facilities in the computer suite on the first floor of the Owheo building. Please ask for assistance at the Registration desk. The Computer Suite will be available on Monday and on Tuesday morning, except during scheduled Workshops.

Telephones are located in the ground floor foyer of the Owheo Building, The Bill Robertson Library and the Tower Building (local calls only). Coin and card-operated telephones are located in the Otago Student Centre on Harbour Terrace.

As a courtesy to others please ensure that all mobile phones and pagers are turned off or switched to silent mode during sessions.
