NZASE Certificate in Science

What's New

June 15, 2008
The Level 2 Certificate programme has been completed and unit plans and assessments for "Fossils" and "Geological Features" are now available. Links are under the "Level 2 Resources" tab.

The Level 1 assessment for US 18973 has been been revised and the latest version is on line. This revision is in response to feedback from Moderation. It is in your interest to ensure you use the most recent version of our assessments.

April 15, 2008
During this term a number of the Level 1 assessment tasks have been modified. They are tests for Unit Standards 18969, 18971 to 18976 (inclusive), 18978, 18981 and 18984. The remaining standards will be reviewed in the near future.

December 4, 2007
Most of the promised material for the new Level 2 Certificate is now available. The new material comprises four unit plans and nine related assessment tasks. More will follow, probably in the New Year.

The assessments for Science Achievement Standards 2.1 and 2.2 have all been split into two tasks: one that assesses to achievement level only and a second which enables students to progress to merit and excellence.

Subscribers can check these out under the CiS Level 2 Resources tab. Information about the Level 2 course is available under the More Information tab.

November 1, 2007
The “Level 1 Resources” tab at the top of this page now opens a table from which all the password-protected level 1 resources can be accessed.

The “Syllabus” document has been removed and teaching notes can be accessed from the table on a unit by unit basis or as a complete set by using the link near the top of the page.  The assessment and reassessment tasks are accessible from the links in the other columns of the table.

The rules for the award of certificates have been revised for next year and can now be found by following the link near the bottom of the “More Information” page.  The aim of this revision was to simplify the rules and to reduce the amount of record keeping required.

Regular users will note that these pages are being revised. For a short while there may be some materials subscribers wish to access and cannot.
