Introduction to Certificate in Science
Level 1
The purpose of CiS at year 11 (Level 1) is to provide a meaningful and achievable course aimed at students for whom Achievement Standards are an unrealistic goal. The certificate recognizes achievement at this level and students can also gain NCEA Level 1 credits through a series of stand-alone Unit Standards.
Practical work and research are important components of the course. The course is based on levels 4 and 5 of the New Zealand Science Curriculum.
NZASE provides access to assessment materials for all relevant Unit Standards.
