Welcome to our Association
 The New Zealand Association of Science Educators (Incorporated) is the national organisation which represents the interests of New Zealand teachers of science. We are the voice of science teachers in primary, secondary and tertiary education. We provide resources for teachers, organise conferences, and promote science in New Zealand.
The Association is made up of regional associations and standing committees for interest groups. We have members in over 500 primary, intermediate and secondary schools and representation in many tertiary institutions. Everyone with a professional interest in science education is welcome to join our Association.

Teaching Fellow, Two Positions (Fixed-term)
Otago University Advanced School Sciences Academy

The Otago University Advanced School Sciences Academy is a new initiative aimed at potentially high achieving students from small, rural/provincial, low decile schools. It runs for a full year and involves two five-day residential 'science camps’ at University of Otago and a virtual academy component for the remainder of the year.
The prime function of these positions is to support delivery of Year 13 science curriculum studies using best practice teaching models and reflective practice at two Science Camps at the University of Otago. These are fixed-term appointments for a period of two years. The successful applicants will work 1000 hours each over this period.
This position provides the right person scope to extend their own teaching practice in innovative ways and inspire students and other teachers with creative teaching approaches while shaping the content and approach of the Academy.
Note: Funding is available to assist with arranging a relieving teacher to cover for time needed on campus during term time.

Professional Practice Fellow, Science Teaching Co-ordinator Fixed-Term

The Otago University Advanced School Sciences Academy is a new initiative aimed at potentially high achieving students from small, rural/provincial, low decile schools. It runs for a full year and involves two five-day residential 'science camps’ at University of Otago and a virtual academy component for the remainder of the year.
The prime function of the Science Teaching Co-ordinator will be the development and co-ordination of the teaching content of both the residential and virtual components of the Otago University Advanced School Sciences Academy ensuring. This is a 0.8 FTE appointment for a period of two years.
The Science Teaching Co-ordinator will assist with the development of the material presented to ensure strong links to Year 13 level 3 curriculum, strong emphasis on providing opportunities to develop expertise, knowledge and creativity while exploring the relevance of science to everyday life and future career options.
The position provides opportunity to work alongside leading science research and teaching staff, extend and develop e-leaning opportunities and help develop a professional development component for science teachers. We are seeking applicants with a passion for science and strong drive and commitment to get this new programme up and running for a 2011 pilot intake.
